Add a one-day
guided or unguided river trip including the enchanting
white cliffs of the Upper Missouri River to your Montana experience and discover
a landscape rarely seen by the human eye...
You launch your canoes into the
Missouri River near Virgelle, Montana on your way downstream to its confluence
with Eagle Creek. This junction has created a unique landscape that offered early
settlers and explorers a place of respite, with its variety of plant life and
breathtaking scenery. Time, wind and water have eroded the Eagle Sandstone
formation into spectacular cliffs and sometimes grotesque forms. A variety of
flora line the banks and fill the nearby coulees with unusual greenery, as a
result of periodic flooding along Eagle Creek.
You may hike a sandstone
coulee, visit Native American sites, and dine on riverside fare
(guided/outfitted premium), before heading overland back to Virgelle, via
pickup truck and van. The total time needed for comfortable completion of this
trip is approximately 8 hours.
