BLM Constructing New Contact Station at Coal Banks Landing

New Contact Station under construction at Coal Banks Landing near Virgelle, MT

Contact Station at Coal Banks Landing under contruction

A few years ago the Bureau of Land Management did upgrades to the campground at Coal Banks, a primary launch point for floating the White Cliffs of the Missouri. During summer months there are campground hosts at the site but they’ve pretty much had to operate out of their personal camper…and a rv contact station provided by BLM at the site.

This photo shows the status of the cabin being built for the new contact station, which will replace the BLM camper on site.

Do you have 2 canoes available for next week, Tuesday -Thursday (4th-6th) or Weds-Fri. (5th-7th)? 4 of us would like to float from Coal Banks to the PN.

Thanks

Do you offer a service of providing a canoe ready at Coalbanks that I can rent and float to Judith and leave the canoe there? Thank you

Yes, we will leave a canoe at Coal Banks Landing for you to drop at Judith Landing. We charge $35 and $45 per day for canoes, and the drop-off fee at Judith Landing is $10 per canoe. Canoe rental includes life vests and paddles, which may be dropped a Judith Landing with the canoe(s).
Remember, we are located just one-mile up the road from Coal Banks Landing, and will take your canoe to the landing at any time, but we remain happy to leave a canoe at Coal Banks Landing for your convenience (after such reservation has been confirmed). However, we do need a couple of documents signed before you get on the river with our equipment.
